Bratin Khan
(B. 1969)Bratin Khan, born in 1969 in West Bengal, is a distinguished artist who has made a significant contribution to contemporary Indian art with his distinctive style that blends traditional techniques with modern sensibilities. His education at Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan, where he studied under the guidance of notable artists from the Bengal School, greatly influenced his work. The Bengal School, known for its focus on Indian themes and classical techniques, is a strong undercurrent in Khan's art, which is evident in his refined handling of line and his use of tempera and other materials.
Khan's paintings are known for their lyrical and poetic quality, often inspired by mythology, folklore, and religious iconography. His works feature a vivid and colorful palette, and his figures—curvaceous and languid—are often depicted with halos or set against serene natural backgrounds, giving his compositions a divine or ethereal quality.
