Ghanshyam Kashyap
( - )Born and brought up in the North Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, Ghanshyam Kashyap is a famous Indian artist known for his realistic paintings and pen sketching portraits as well as paint series like landscape of Varanasi Ghats, Indian villages, temples of Banaras and street scenes. His mountainscapes remind us of the well-known artist Nicholas Roerich. His unique style is marked by the figurative nature of his work in which people witnessing the monuments in his artworks against the enormous monuments can be seen. His portrayal of jungles reflect dwarfed people against the thick colourful background of the jungle in effervescent olive, blue and red colours. His abstract horse paintings on canvas have been sold in several countries all over the world. Successfully executing the theme of forests, trees and environment paintings, Ghamshyam’s work strongly conveys that the artist has studied nature very closely. He has painted various artworks depicting the festival of Holi celebrated in India. Interestingly, the author has also stepped into the Sufiyana style of painting. His pen and ink drawings and village paintings displaying the carefree and contented life in the village are a pleasure to see. Free from the materialistic happiness his village painting series captures the true emotions of people living in rural India.
