M. F. Husain

Born in 1915 in Maharashtra, he began his career painting cinema posters and later became a founding member of the Progressive Artists’ Group in Bombay.
His work blended traditional Indian themes with contemporary techniques, often focusing on mythology, history, and Indian society. Husain stirred controversy for his depictions of Hindu deities, leading to exile in his later years. Despite criticism, his contributions to Indian modern art remain unparalleled.
He passed away in 2011, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy.
