The author was a medical officer to the British forces in India. The present work recounts a visit made to Kashmir in the summer of 1875. The routes to Srinagar, a history of the inhabitants, anecdotes, etc. As might be gathered from the title a very positive view, beautiful surroundings and a handsome people, the author considers Kashmiri women to be some of the most beautiful in the world but unfortunately unfamiliar with the concept of bathing. original red cloth gilt, gilt decoration on front cover, title in gilt on spine.
