A handsomely presented copy of this detailed account of events at the last of the great Imperial Durbars, celebrating the coronation of King George V and his consort Queen Mary. The text is divided into three section: Camps and General Arrangements covering the complex logistics; Durbar Functions, a calendar of the major events; and Sport, chronicling the various tournaments arranged as an entertainment to accompany this huge gathering. The text is augmented by appendices containing official documentation: the Royal Proclamation; Court Circulars; the Durbar Honours List; and Administrative Changes, which includes the official documentation relating to the decision to the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to New Delhi. This copy further enhanced by the addition, tipped in at the front free endpaper, of the clipped signatures of Canning, Governor-General of India, 1856-62, and of his successor the Earl of Elgin.
