Large Folio, 2 vol., lithographic portrait of Prince Waldemar, 2 additional titles and 104 plates (one double-page) all hand-colored in brilliant colors, 9 engraved maps on 6 sheets, hand-coloured in outline.

BINDING: Publisher’s original brown cloth by Leisegang of Berlin (binder's ticket).Upper covers decorated in gilt with large Prussian eagle and lettered in gilt, lower covers with the names of the battles of Moodkee (Mudki), Ferozeshah and Sabraon encircling Waldemar's cypher in gilt, marbled endpapers, neat early 20th-century spine re-backing. Excellent condition. Excellent Condition Copy.

Very Rare Hand-color copy of Deluxe Edition, which was published after the death of the Prince Waldemar at the expense of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV in only small numbers. The magnificent panels were drawn and lithographed by Bellermann, Tempeltei and Klaus after the original sketches of the Prince. - With views of Aden, Benares, Candy, Delhi, Cairo, Himalyas, Kathmandu, Madras, Corfu, Lahore, Patna, Trieste, etc. as well as numerous landscapes from the Himalayas (including the double-page panorama), natives, hunting and battle scenes. - Describes the journey of the Prince of the Orient, India and Ceylon, and climbing the Himalayas and the Anglo-Indian war against the Sikhs in 1846.
