A King sitting on a Terrace. Gouache with gold.

A scene which we normally only dream of an airy marble terrace with beautiful views beside the deep grey waters of a river. On the far bank palaces nestle between gently rolling hills. The king relaxes leaning against cushions on a rug with jugs and bowls in front of him. He is surrounded by servants and other persons. The faces and decoration have been painted with great delicacy. The scene is surrounded by a floral background.
