pp. xii, 331 + pp. 16 publisher's catalogue at the end. A lively account in part diary, part narrative form beginning with October 1858 when the author left for India. While the book ends with an entry for May 1859, inside the book there are diary extracts for the year 1860 as well. The authoress arrived via Bombay and Poona and was largely confined to Aurangabad and vicinity and there are chapters on Ajanta, Ellora and observations on Indian religions interspersed with descriptions of her daily life.
Condition: Title-page strengthened at left. Pp. 189-193 margins repaired/ fixed with scotch tape without loss of paper.
Original navy-blue buckram with gilt title on spine in good condition.
