pp. 240 with Index with 9 full-colour illustrations and 12 halftone illustrations. Lear - the writer of nonsense verse but also a great artist - travelled all over India from November 1873 to February 1875 with an Italian servant and made more than 2,000 watercolours. He had come to India at the invitation of his friend, governor-general Earl of Northbrook.
