Colour plates with accompanying text pages. contemporary half leather over marbled boards hardcover binding, Spine in seven compartments of raised bands, with gilt ornamental devices, title in gilt on 2, marbled end papers.
In this fine work, which took 12 years to complete, various range of costumes and hair-styles, jewelry, period furnishings, weapons, furniture, are covered and has been a very rich source for artists and designers of various backgrounds.
About 25 plates are India related, rest of Persia, Japon, Asia, Africa. Most striking color plates.
