Miniature Painting

Image Size: 17 x 26.5 cm (6.6 x 10.4 Inches)
Folio Size: 19.8 x 29.5 cm (7.7 x 11.6 Inches)

This Mevar school miniature painting depicts Maharaja Ari Singhji of Mevar is riding a horse spearing a boar. Richly adorned king dressed in off white and orange royal costumes, decked in necklaces made of pearls and gold and bejeweled bright orange turban, the king embodies braver. The focus of the artist’s brush is on the king, and the rest of the painting is less detailed

The scene represents a hunt expedition in lush green simple landscape with floating clouds in far background. The major highlight of this work is the royalty which can understand through the attire of the king and ornamental coverings of the galloping horse.

The subject and elements of this miniature painting provides an interesting context to the spontaneous heroism associated with official portrait of ruler engaged in royal hunt.
