Published by John Murray. Large 4to., 2 Vols. Vol. 1: xxii, 644 pp, 10 b/w engraving plates (5 missing), large foldout Map; Vol. 2: viii, 715 pp., 11 black & white plates. (all missing); Contemporray half brown morocco leather over marbled boards, spine with raised bands, title in gilt on spine. Malcolm (1769-1833), visited Persia three times on diplomatic missions. he travelled to the most of the provinces and he had excellent officers, some of whom also wrote books on Persia. He dispatched his officers to various parts of the country to observe and report. Malcolm's history begings with the legendary kings and ends with the beginnings of the Qajars.
