MIR JAFAR AND MIR MIRAN

No Date but Similer Paintings were made in Circa 2000

Image size - 25.4 x 20.4 cm (10 x 8 Inches)
Mount size - 42 x 34 cm (16.5 x 13.3 Inches)

The work depicts portraits of ‘Mir Jafar’ (left) and his eldest son ‘Mir Miran’ (right).
Mir Syed Jafar Ali Khan Bahadur was a commander-in-chief or military general who reigned as the first dependent Nawab of Bengal of the British East India Company. Mir Miran was the eldest son of Mir Zafar, the first Nawab of Bengal under the British East India Company. Mir Jafar on the left shown as a middle aged man with dense black beard and moustache hold hokkah pipe from his right hand whereas, on the right young Mir Miran with trimmed moustache and youthful face. Rubies, emeralds, pearls, sapphires and diamonds to some extent, seems to have been chosen gems of these two Bengal Nawabs. By assimilating all these features in his portrayal, the artist has reached almost near his real likeness.
