The lovers’ spat, an adorable part of the story of Radha and Krishna, beautiful because of its very human and relatable feel, is a favorite theme of Bengal school artists looking to bring emotions to the composition. Here we have a lovely watercolor work, showing a sullen Radha being soothed by Krishna. Radha is hiding her face from her beloved, refusing him the right to catch a look of her exquisite visage. Radha is draped in fine attire and gorgeous jewellery whereas, blue bodied Krishna is dressed in a charming yellow and adorned with flowers. Tree against to blue sky in the background framing this divine couple as a parasol just to.
This lyrical work of Bengal School shows the influence of Abindranath Tagore, traditional Indian miniature paintings and Ajanta paintings.
