The painting depicts sea or river view during sunrise. The brilliant yellow and orange of rising sun glimmers amid the damp air and dances on the gentle rippling water, lighting up its iridescent blues and greens. Barely discernible through cool haze, pack boats smoke from their stacks. The ephemeral play of light, water, and air seems to be artist’s subject of his artistic journey.
This hazy scene of sunrise strayed from traditional landscape painting and classic, idealized beauty.
