This is a watercolour portrait painting of an old man with hat and scarf. This study of an old man with impassive and forlorn expression depicted in independent style and rejected the typical style treatment of the Western art school.
The subject treated with simplicity and covey a long life journey of the sitter. The old man depicted seated on a wooden stool with both hands on his knees. His down casting eyes and curved shoulders connote an attitude of maturity and hard work. The naturalistic rendering of the figure is such that, just by looking at it, the viewer can almost feel real tactile sensations.
The delicate brush strokes and soft hues and subdued tones evokes a sense of stability, rest and silence.
