Theakston, Victorian & Edwardian Women Travelers p.218: Marianne Postans' first book provided an account of life in the province of Cutch and of her travels in the surrounding districts. She was a critic of the system she found. She described the conditions of those Indians less connected with the imperial regime, pointedout the need for consideration for native soldiers, exposed the inequities of the caste system, and revealed deficiencies in the British army and administration. Mrs Postans wrote with no sentimentality.
