The Jungle Book is a "collection of stories by Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894. The Second Jungle Book, published in 1895, contains stories linked by poems.
Rudyard Kipling was one of the most popular British authors of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, he was an extraordinary writer of narrative. Kipling the youngest Nobel laureate in literature, penned a wide variety of works, from poems to short stories to novels. His children's books, including The Jungle Book, which he apparently wrote for his daughter, are regarded as classics.
