The work depicts a portrait of a woman which invokes the spirit of aesthetics and divine joy in viewer?s minds. Acharyas works conjures up an expansive realm of silence and peace tracing the subtlety and inimitable sensitivity invested in the painting that express a visual language beyond words.
A woman in profile, gazing straight, her brown hair adorned with elegant jewelry pieces, she is wrapped in pink dupatta or saree with contrasted light green blouse. The background features muted earthy tones, with hints of a stormy sky and suggestion of landscape with lush green foliage and tree.
The influence of the Bengal school and Abanindranath Tagore was quite evident. At first glance what attracts the viewers attention is the grace, elegance, subtlety and a penchant for esoteric. With meticulous detailing, the artist manages to evoke a soft focus and subtle texture. The colour palette is pre dominantly mute yet at places dramatic, effected by the outcome of the medium applied through tempera and wash blending of dash of white to the deeper shades of red, yellow, blue, green, cobalt brown and black.
