This work depicts dying body of crucified Christ. Christ face is resting on chest, allowing us a glimpse of his features. The influence of Classicism in the work is shown in the overall calmness of the body and its idealized posture. The influence of western art school evident in the dramatic tenebrism that focuses all attention on Christ's pale body.
Artist has used a unique, masterly technique of creating three dimensional relief on canvas. Combination of earthy tones, depth and granularity define this work as part of his self-discovered genre. Artist has used Plaster of Paris mixed with Zinc oxide and used a knife to sculpt and work on the texture and consistency of the subject. Basically this technique is a blend of painting and sculpture which has been developed and mastered by Aziz.
